4 Day Program

8 Day Program

Day 1: Gateway to the Amazon

Your journey into the Amazon begins as you arrive in Iquitos, the world's largest city unreachable by road. Here you'll meet your survival expert, Edgar, before heading to the historic port town of Nauta.

Then comes your first real taste of the Amazon - a stunning 5-hour boat journey that takes you deep into the wilderness. Watch as civilization fades and the mighty jungle closes in around you. Keep your eyes peeled for pink river dolphins, exotic birds, and troops of monkeys in the canopy above.

By late afternoon, you'll arrive at our secluded basecamp in the pristine Tamshiyacu Yanayacu Reserve, where you'll spend your first night surrounded by the symphony of the jungle.

Day 2: First Lessons in Jungle Survival

Your real survival journey begins after breakfast as we venture deeper into the Amazon's embrace. Pack your essentials for a fascinating 3-hour trek to the hidden paradise of Yarina Lake. This isn't just a hike - it's your first hands-on lesson in jungle survival.

Along the trail, your guide will reveal ancient secrets of the forest: which vines hold life-giving water, which plants can heal, and how to spot the subtle signs of wildlife. Keep your senses sharp as monkeys swing through the canopy, exotic birds call from above, and perhaps even catch glimpses of the Amazon's more elusive residents.

At Yarina Lake, you'll learn crucial survival skills: foraging for edible plants and crafting traditional hunting tools. Under expert guidance, you'll fashion your own spears, harpoons, and even traditional blowguns - tools that have sustained Amazon peoples for generations. This will be your base for the next two nights as you deepen your connection with the jungle.

Day 3: Immersed in Jungle Wisdom

Today you'll continue your journey into authentic jungle survival, with Lake Yarina as your classroom. Your expert guide Edgar shares generations of Amazon knowledge, building on the skills from yesterday while introducing new survival techniques essential for life in the rainforest.

Each lesson adapts to the jungle's natural rhythm and the group's progress, ensuring you get the most from this unique learning experience. Practice your new skills in this pristine environment, where the boundary between observer and survivor begins to blur.

As dusk approaches, settle in for your final night at Lake Yarina, where the sounds of the jungle create nature's own lullaby. Around the evening campfire, listen to tales of the Amazon passed down through generations of jungle dwellers.

Day 4: Return to Civilization

Wake up to your final morning in the Amazon wilderness, as the jungle stirs to life around Lake Yarina. Over breakfast, take a moment to reflect on your transformation from tourist to survivor over these past few days.

Then begins your journey back to the modern world - a trek through the rainforest that feels different now, seen through the eyes of someone who's learned its secrets. Arrive at basecamp where your river transport awaits, ready to carry you along the mighty Amazon back to Nauta.

As you make the final leg to Iquitos, you'll realize you're returning with more than just memories - you're carrying with you a profound connection to one of the world's last great wildernesses, and survival skills that will stay with you for life.

Day 4: Engineering Your Path

Start your day with breakfast in the tranquil embrace of Lake Yarina before embarking on an exciting new challenge - building your own water transport. Under expert guidance, you'll learn to identify and harvest balsa wood, transforming it into a functional raft using ancient Amazon techniques. Test your creation with fishing and exploration on the lake's calm waters.

The real test comes as you navigate your handmade vessel across the lake, carrying all your supplies to virgin territory. Here, you'll establish a new camp in previously unexplored terrain, truly living the explorer's experience.

Day 5: Journey to the Great River

Today's adventure takes you deeper into the Amazon's heart on a challenging 4-hour trek to the legendary Tahuayo River. As the landscape gradually changes, your guide will help you read the jungle's subtle shifts. Each step brings you closer to one of the Amazon's most pristine waterways, where few outsiders venture.

Emerge from the dense forest to set up camp along the mighty Tahuayo, your home for the next two nights in one of the Amazon's most secluded locations.

Day 6: Freedom in the Wild

Wake to the sounds of the Tahuayo River, where today offers a perfect balance of guided exploration and personal discovery. Choose to join your guide in unveiling more jungle secrets, or take time to absorb the raw beauty of your surroundings. This is your chance to practice the survival skills you've learned or simply connect with the rhythm of the Amazon.

As night falls, prepare dinner under the stars, letting the river's gentle flow provide the soundtrack to your evening.

Day 7: The Return Journey

Begin your return trek with new eyes and heightened senses. The path back to Lake Yarina becomes a final lesson in jungle wisdom, with your guide revealing more secrets of this living pharmacy and wildlife sanctuary. Every step reinforces the survival knowledge you've gained, as you make your way back to now-familiar Lake Yarina for your final night in the wilderness.

Day 8: Carrying the Amazon Home

Your final morning in the Amazon dawns at Lake Yarina. Over breakfast, reflect on your transformation from tourist to jungle survivor. The trek back to basecamp feels different now - you're no longer just walking through the jungle, you're reading it like a book.

Board your boat for the return journey to Nauta, carrying with you not just memories, but a profound understanding of one of Earth's last great wildernesses. Final transfer to Iquitos, where your Amazon adventure concludes but your connection to the jungle will last a lifetime.

Amazing I wanted to experience the jungle. No airconditioned room or seeing from a safe distance sort of thing. I were searching for an adventure - one with connection to the jungle and with the local people. If that is what you are looking for, then this is your team. The guide Ricky is super friendly and helpful the whole stay in Iquitos even after the tour has ended

It was incredible! From the bottom of my heart I say THANK YOU for this indescribably great week in Iquitos! It was the best decision to choose you as my guide. I was very selective and did a lot of research. I didn't want a "classic tourist tour". The contact was super professional right from the start. Ricky was a wonderful guide at all times. I have carried wonderful experiences with me ever since! I felt very comfortable as a woman traveling alone! Hairo our boatman and Ricky really went out of their way to make me happy every day. They are so lovely and funny. I will carry this time with me all my life, it was very special! I wish you all the very best! 1000% recommendation for this company. I miss the Amazonas Camp and ricky's cooking skills <3

Amazing Amazon experience! Our Amazon adventure with Amazon Jungle Survival tours was amazing! Ricky, our guide, was really knowledgeable and helpful. The range of activities we did was impressive - from observing various birds, caymans, turtles, sloths, and monkeys in their natural habitat, to hands-on experiences like building shelters, rafts and setting animal traps. We also fished and camped in the jungle, which was a unique experience. For anyone looking for an authentic and unforgettable Amazon adventure, I highly recommend this trip!

Awesome Adventure We booked a trip of 4 days and 3 nights with Edgar‘s team. We asked him to organise diffrent activities from our desire. Boat/Fishing/Hiking/ Nocturne Jungle walk! Edgar coordinated that perfectly. The lodge where we have been is in a really nice area lots of birds, monkeys, kayman and a other typs of animals … We were really lucky to see snakes too. The lodge was very clean and compfortable almost without moskitos which was nice to have after beeing bitten a lot in the Jungle which is normal. Ricky and Jairo our Tourguides were awesome with great skills they know a lot about the Jungle and they told some really funny stories about it. Beatrice which was our Chef made us delisciouse food. We highliy recommend Edgar and his Staff to vist the Jungle arround Iquitos. Check out their website

This is the Place My girlfriend and I wanted to experience the jungle. No airconditioned room or seeing from a safe distance sort of thing. We were searching for an adventure - one with connection to the jungle and with the local people. If that is what you are looking for, then this is your team. The lodge is small and simple. It is owned and run completely by the local community. Describing each detail of our experience is futile - it will suffice to say that as much as we experienced, the jungle is not finished with us. Her voice still reaches my ear, and we are planning our return. Shout out to Ricky as our guide. With him, everything is possible!

Experience of a Lifetime What can I say other than "fantastic"? Edgar went above and beyond as a guide, he is a complete professional showing off his intimate knowledge of the rainforest, while also being a perfect travel companion. While exploring the rainforest with Edgar we saw more animals, plants, and fungi than I could have expected (the highlights were: River dolphins, howler monkeys, dragonfish, millipedes, and even a sloth mere meters away)! We had an amazing trip with Edgar, and would recommend him to anyone looking for a guide.

Incredible in all ways. Going into the Amazon is one of my all-time favorite travel experiences. This isn’t some touristy gimmick, it’s the real deal! We got to get deep into the actual Amazon, where there is far more wildlife than humans. It was very apparent we were the visitors, everything is filled with life. I saw pigmy monkey, huge caiman, pink dolphin, and even an electric eel! Truly incredible. Edgar is an amazing guide, who grew up in the Amazon, and know everything about the plants and animals. I couldn’t have noticed 99% of the animals, but he knows exactly how to see them and find them. We also got to interact with his tribe who lives there, I learned so much. Truly incredible, don’t even wait, you need to do this.

Excellent tour of the Amazon with the best guide! Had such a great time exploring the Amazon river and its tributaries. Saw a ton of wildlife from caiman, sloths, river dolphins, capybaras, to tons of different birds including prehistoric birds and macaws! It was just an amazing trip and Edgar was really the most critical part of it. He is exceptionally knowledgeable about the jungle from tracking animals and telling about their behaviors, to describing traditional health properties of plants and vines. He is a survival expert in his element in the jungle and it really shows. He was always looking for cool and exciting things to show us and tell us about. He is really a caring guy and wants his guests to experience as much as possible. Could not recommend Edgar enough! Booking here on trip advisors doesn't seem to work... The best way to get in touch is his website (amazonjunglesurvival.tours) or on Instagram (amazon.jungle.survival).
