The Capibara Eco Lodge is locally owned and supports the local community.

Capibara Eco Lodge History.

Capibara Eco Lodge is 100% Peruvian owned and it was created by Edgar, a native of the Amazon rainforest and he built this lodge with another friend.

Capibara Eco Lodge has a excellent relationship with the local village, as you can see most of the people who work here are from the village.

Beside, since Capibara Eco Lodge was built, the people of the village work in Ecotourism. Before they were hunters but now they protect the jungle and the environment which is important for them too.

The main job for the local people is Capibara Eco Lodge now.

As you can notice all the dising and construction are for the local people of the community and respecting their ability to build the house using their own materials of the jungle.

The Amazon and their tributary rivers can rise by some meters during the year, therefore it is built on stilts.

The habitations are fresh and it is very protected it with mosquitos-net around the bungalows and also inside the room there are extra mosquitos-net to protect your bed.

We have a dinner room and also hammock-room to enjoy in the hours off of the activities.

Capibara Eco Lodge is very small and humble design and distributions make according to your personal interest (simple room, matrimonial room, family room, camarotes, etc.)

In the lodge there is electricity but only for few hours between 6pm and 9pm and it’s possible to charge phones, laptops, cameras etc.

Yarapa village is a small where only 30 families live.

It has been very important the creation of Capibara Eco Lodge  located in these good floodplains.

Yarapa village waited for us with the open arms and in gratitude to this gesture we have created a strategic of the inhabitants, animals, the forest, and visitors.

We distribute the work equitably among the residents, through a rotation system.

At Capibara Eco Lodge we are committed to helping the villagers with medicines, and financial aid etc.

If during your visit to the Capibara Eco Lodge you want to visit the town and you want to help more actively,  you can bring them oral care products, medicines, birth control methods, articles and school books, appliances etc. However, this is not a requirement and people of Yarapa do not expect it.

They are very friendly and live happily in their area of the Amazon jungle….
